About the artist
I moved to Maine in 1978 to be the art director of WoodenBoat magazine in Brooklin and then never left.  After many years in graphic design I began painting full time. I  have a BFA from Syracuse University and since have studied with numerous artists, favorites being Milton Glaser and David Driskell.

Oil is my preferred medium but occasionally I enjoy the versatility and spontaneity of acrylics.  I perceive in abstract ways but paint objectively, fascinated by nature's endless forms and patterns.  I’m interested in capturing what I feel about my subject and sharing it with others.  The process of painting is a mixture of both joy and pain for me, in shifting proportions, but always deeply satisfying.  I have a strong belief in the necessity of art and its power to influence changes both large and small, personal and planetary.
