About the artist

Nancy McCormick has lived and worked year-round on Mount Desert Island for most of her adult life.  Nancy’s work is a reflection of Mount Desert Island as seen from a multitude of perspectives:  its shifting seasons, changing light and layered landscape.

Nancy’s materials and process are of primary interest to her.  She is influenced by many artists, known and unknown, and their forms of self-expression over of the course of history:  deteriorating frescoes, Chinese ink-brush paintings, 19th-century travel landscapes, needlepoint samples, the work of Mark Rothko and Paul Klee.

Nancy McCormick was born in New York City and received her BFA from Denison University.
